Enable partners to perform Early Renewals in the marketplace

Adobe VIP Marketplace supports renewal orders placed before a customer's contract anniversary date. Early Renewals allow partners to renew subscriptions ahead of the anniversary date and lock in current pricing β€” for example, when a price increase is announced or when a customer's budget cycle requires early commitment.

Partners can:

  • Create an early renewal through a new quote, with the subscription created immediately.
  • Schedule an early renewal on an existing subscription that executes automatically on the contract's renewal date.
  • Create additional renewal orders to renew additional units after the first early renewal order.
  • Include multiple products or subscriptions in a single early renewal order.

πŸ“ Note: Early Renewal is supported for Assisted Sales (v2) purchases and API only. There is no customer self-serve experience. Early renewals apply to the full quantity of an existing subscription.

Prerequisites

  • Set up the Adobe integration, if not done already. Refer to Configure and sell Adobe products for more details.

  • Ensure that the products are set up on the Marketplace with price books configured for all applicable levels and products. Refer to Set up price books for Adobe VIP.

  • Contact your AppDirect technical representative to enable the Early Renewal feature.

πŸ“ Note: Double-check all prerequisites and Marketplace settings as specified in this section, even if they were configured previously.

Perform an early renewal

Early Renewal is available only within the last 30 days of the contract term (Adobe's standard eligibility window). The option is not displayed outside this window.

Create an early renewal through a new quote

  1. Create a new quote for the customer for the Adobe product.
  2. Select Early Renewal on eligible lines. To include multiple products in the same early renewal order, add the additional products and select Early Renewal for each product.
  3. Finalize the quote.

The subscription is created immediately. The first invoice is pro-rated from the current date to the existing contract's renewal date. Subsequent invoices follow the standard billing cycle from the renewal date.

Schedule an early renewal on an existing subscription

  1. Open the Update Subscription page for the eligible subscription.
  2. Select the Early Renewal checkbox. To include multiple subscriptions in the same order, add the additional existing subscriptions and select Early Renewal for each subscription.
  3. Finalize the update.

The full quantity of the current subscription is included in the early renewal. A scheduled order is created; there is no immediate activation. The scheduled order is visible with its execution date and runs automatically on the contract's renewal date, locking in the pricing captured at order time.

Create additional renewal orders after the first early renewal order

  1. Open the Update Subscription page.
  2. Select the Early Renewal checkbox.
  3. Enter the desired quantity: current quantity plus additional quantity.
  4. Select Immediate under the date controls.
  5. Finalize the update.

The order is provisioned and invoiced immediately on the marketplace, covering the period until the end of the contract.

❗ Important:

  • Cancelling a scheduled Early Renewal is not supported in this release.
  • Before the scheduled early renewal executes, partners within Adobe's 14-day revert period can cancel the scheduled order in the marketplace.
