Enable partners to offer ETO

The Extended Term Options (ETO) feature allows customers to pay upfront for an extended term and set a specific anniversary date for their contract.

Key features

  • Upfront payment: Customers can pay upfront for an extended term, which enables better financial planning.
  • Anniversary date setting: Customers can set a specific anniversary date for their agreement. Only customers with no active Adobe licenses can opt-in for ETO.
    • Duration: The anniversary date can be set for a period greater than 13 months and up to a maximum of 36 months from the current date.
  • Initial term definition: The initial term of the agreement will correspond to the extended term selected.
    • Mid-term license additions: Any additional licenses added during the term will be prorated to the established anniversary date.
  • Subsequent terms: After the initial extended term, subsequent agreements will revert to a standard 12-month term.

Limitations

  • Migration Support: Adobe does not support ETO migrations on their Sandbox. Partners have to perform the product testing in close coordination with the Adobe team. Adobe will let them cancel the test order.
  • Compatibility: Only Checkout v2 and Opportunities (Create Opportunity only) support ETO. Avoid using other versions, as they are not supported. Selecting Continue to Checkout will direct you to Checkout v1, which is incompatible with ETO.

Prerequisites

Before offering ETO, partners must ensure that the following prerequisites are met:

  • Contact your AppDirect technical representative to enable the required functionalities.

  • Set up Adobe integration, if not done already. Refer to Configure and sell Adobe products for more details.

Caution: Do not migrate any customers before completing the above prerequisites and the instructions below.

  • The customer must not have any active Adobe subscriptions.

  • Co-term date logic: [today + 1 year] < [cotermDate being set] < [today + 3 years].

Instructions

  • Update the product profiles of all existing Adobe products. Contact your AppDirect technical representative to learn more about the updates.

  • Add the newly added editions to the respective existing pricebooks. For more information, refer to Set up price books for Adobe VIP.

📝 Note: The same steps must be followed whenever a new product is added to the marketplace or ETO is made available for an existing product.

Caution: Do not migrate any customers before completing the above steps.

  • After the expiry of their contract term, the products eligible for renewal and subscriptions with auto-renewal ON will renew to an annual contract.

Existing customers with active ETO being migrated to the marketplace

Update existing ETO contract

ETO contracts cannot be updated once set.

Termination of ETO

  • ETO contracts auto-terminate at the end of the contract term. Depending on the renewal state, the customer will either auto-renew to an annual subscription or their contract will end.
  • Generic Adobe return policies apply:
    • Purchases can be returned within 14 days if unused.
    • Cancellation can be scheduled to take effect at the end of the contract term.

Extension of ETO

ETO contracts cannot be extended. A customer can opt for ETO if they don’t have any active Adobe subscriptions.
