Migrate a Google account into the marketplace

Marketplace Managers can manually migrate a customer with an existing Google account into their marketplace. Do this when your customer purchased a Google subscription elsewhere, and now wants to move their subscription into your marketplace.

When a customer account is created on the Google Reseller console, it must have a registered domain.

Prerequisites for migration:

  • Create a reseller account with Google and link your account to your marketplace. Complete the steps in Integrate a marketplace and a Google Reseller account.
  • The customer has a Google account.
  • The customer provides you with their domain name and a transfer token. You need the transfer token in order to associate your Google Reseller account with their domain.
  • Contact your AppDirect technical representative and request the following:
    • Enable the setting that displays Developer Customer Accounts on the Data Migration page at Marketplace > Settings > Integration | Migration > Create Dataset.
    • Enable migration on your marketplace.
    • Enable reporting on your marketplace, specifically the Marketplace Products report.
    • A Marketplace Products report for your marketplace for a specified time period.
  • A set of migration files. For more information, see Prepare migration files.

You need to perform a number of steps on the Google Reseller console before completing the steps on AppDirect.

On the Google Reseller console

  1. Transfer the customer to your Google Reseller account
  2. Verify account migration

On AppDirect

  1. Prepare migration files. You will need the following:
    1. The Marketplace Products report that your AppDirect technical representative created for you.

    2. Users file

    3. Companies file

    4. Memberships file

    5. Developer Customer Accounts file

    6. Company Entitlements file

      Note: You need to have access to the Google Reseller console.
      You need the Marketplace Products report.
      To create the Developer Customer Accounts file, you need information from the Companies file and the Google Reseller console.
      To create the Company Entitlements file, you need information from the Users file and the Google Reseller console.

  2. Create and upload a dataset for the Google accounts that you are migrating into your marketplace, as described in Create and upload a migration dataset for Google accounts.
  3. When your dataset has been uploaded to the marketplace, and its state changes from Created to any Activated state, download your import report as described in Download migration reports.
  4. Verify the domain was updated for the customer on the marketplace as described in Verify the domain update
  5. AppDirect does not send activation emails to users that were created through migration. Inform the Company Administrator that they can log in to your marketplace as described in Inform the Company Administrator.

You need to know the customer IdP in order to migrate user and company information. If AppDirect is the IdP provider, you can use random but unique values.

When the annual subscription is migrated, the customer must choose a new annual plan unless the subscription expires in fewer than 30 days. The flex plan is not supported for migrated annual subscriptions.
