Assisted sales

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

Depending on your marketplace configuration and business model, you and other users might perform assisted sales for your customers. In other words, Marketplace Managers, Sales Support Representatives (SSRs), Reseller Managers, and Resellers might purchase products on behalf of end users. For example, SSRs in call centers might buy products on behalf of marketplace customers who request checkout support and Resellers might perform assisted sales so that they can customize prices or contract terms for their customers.

📝 Note: You can only purchase products on behalf of users that are members of a different company. For example, if you are a member of two companies, company A and company B, the following is true:

  • You can purchase products on behalf of users in company B if you are purchasing from company A.
  • You cannot purchase products on behalf of users in company A if you are purchasing from company A.

This section addresses assisted sales by Marketplace Managers and SSRs. For assisted sales information for Reseller Managers, see Assisted sales, and for Resellers, see Assisted sales.

Marketplace Managers configure settings that affect assisted sales. For example, they can give users permission to change prices, manage payment information for customers, or finalize assisted sales without manager approval.

Marketplaces are configured to use one of two assisted sales methods. To reference the documentation that applies to your marketplace configuration, go to Manage > Marketplace > Orders:
