Create product categories

You can create categories for your marketplace's products. For more information about categories, see Organize products. After you create a category or subcategory, you can assign products to it. For more iformation, see Edit product tab in the Edit product marketplace settings topic.

To create categories and subcategories

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

1. Click Manage > Marketplace > Products > Groups | Product Groups. The Product Group page opens and displays the existing groups such as categories, attributes, and product lines.
2. Click Add Category. The Add Category dialog opens.
3. Enter the category name in Category Name.
4. (Optional) Click Show Advanced Settings. Additional settings appear. Turn on or off one or more of the following.
   • Display on the marketplace homepage—Determines whether the category is visible on the home page.
   • Only Marketplace Managers can tag products with this category—Defines the category as one to which only Marketplace Managers can assign products.
5. (Optional) Click Add Subcategory, then enter a subcategory in the Subcategories field that appears.
6. (Optional) Repeat the previous step to add additional subcategories.
7. Click Save to create the category and subcategories. A message confirms that the category changes are saved. The category that you created appears in the left navigation pane on the marketplace’s All Applications and Featured Applications pages.
