Create attributes

You can create attributes for your marketplace's products. For more information about attributes, see Organize products. After you create an attribute, you can assign products to it. For more information, see Edit product tab in the Edit product marketplace settings topic.

To create attributes

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

1. Click Manage > Marketplace > Products > Groups | Product Groups. The Product Group page opens and displays the existing groups such as categories, attributes, and product lines.
2. Click Add Attribute. The Add Attribute dialog appears.
3. Enter the attribute name in the Name field.
4. (Optional) Click Show Advanced Settings. Additional settings appear.
   1. (Optional) Enter a description of the attribute in the Description field. This category description appears within a tooltip in the product editor, which is where Developers assign products to attributes.
   2. Switch one or more of the following settings on or off.
      • Display on the marketplace home page—Determines whether the attribute is visible on the home page.
      • Only Marketplace Managers can tag products with this attribute—Defines the attribute as one to which only Marketplace Managers can assign products.
      • Make this attribute a required field in the product editor—Marketplace Managers and Developers are required to select an option for this attribute in the Manage > Marketplace > Products > Production Catalog > {productName} | Edit Marketplace Settings > {productName} Settings | Product > Attributes section.
5. (Optional) Click Add Option, then enter an attribute option name in the field that appears.
6. (Optional) Repeat the previous step to add more attribute options.
7. Click Save to create the attribute and attribute options. The attribute that you created appears in the left navigation pane on the marketplace’s All Applications and Featured Applications pages, unless you restricted its visibility with the Advanced Setting.
