Validate templates
📝 Note: This feature only supports invoice template customizations. Document Builder, which supports both invoice and quote template customizations, might be available on your marketplace. For more information, see Document Builder.
To validate templates, you can download PDFs with mock data and you can publish them and then view the output when the system generates invoices with the templates. For more information on downlaoding PDFs with mock data, see Download template PDF files.
This feature is enabled by default for new marketplaces. If it is not enabled on your marketplace, contact your AppDirect technical representative.
To test user-defiined published templates
- Go to one of the following to download the PDF version of an invoice that your marketplace issued to an end-user:
- Manage > Marketplace > Invoices > {invoiceID} > Download
- Manage > Marketplace > Users > {userID} > {invoiceID} > Download
- Manage > Marketplace > Companies > {companyID} > Billing > {invoiceNumber} >
The invoice downloads to your local default download folder.
- Use PDF viewer software to validate the invoice. When the output is acceptable, the test is complete. When any of them does not meet your expectations, continue to the next step to edit the template before you test the output again.
- (Optional) Go to Edit JSON templates and follow the procedure to edit the template.
- (Optional) Do one of the following to test the updated template:
- Go to Download template PDF files and follow the procedure to view the output with mock data.
- Generate an invoice with a test purchase from the marketplace, or wait until the platform generates an invoice.
- (Optional) Repeat this procedure.
