Manage invoice templates

đź“ť Note: This feature only supports invoice template customizations. Document Builder, which supports both invoice and quote template customizations, might be available on your marketplace. For more information, see Document Builder.

đź“ť Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

Marketplace Managers can create, edit, and manage PDF invoice templates. When users download invoices, the AppDirect platform uses templates that are in Active status to generate PDF invoices. There can be one active invoice for each language that the marketplace supports, and an unlimited number of inactive invoices.

When you publish an inactive template for a language, its status changes to Active and the previously active template to Not active status. You can also edit published templates and then publish the edits (the status of the template remains Active).

There is one default template in Active status for each language the marketplace supports. Templates are built with JavaScript Object Notation (JSON). You can use the native JSON editor to edit and create them, or download the JSON, edit it off-platform, and then save them as new templates.

You can do one or more of the following:

Marketplace Managers manage invoice templates from three pages, one or all of which appear in the breadcrumb as you navigate through them:

  • The invoice template list page at Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Invoice templates , which lists all PDF templates, and where you can download JSON, copy templates, and edit templates.
  • The invoice template details page at Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Invoice templates > invoiceName , where you can edit the template using the visual editor (see Edit templates with the visual editor ), publish the template, view the published or most recently edited version of the template, preview the template, preview a PDF with mock data, and rename the template.
  • The Edit JSON page at Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Invoice templates > invoiceName > Edit JSON , where you can edit the template JSON, upload images, preview the template, and preview a PDF with mock data.

The View template information topic provides an overview of the three pages, with definitions of each element. The actions you can take on the pages are detailed in the topics that follow it:
