Add users to companies

Marketplace Managers can add users to companies if your marketplace supports this ability. Contact your AppDirect technical representative for more information.

Depending on your marketplace configuration, Marketplace Managers can either add users, as described in this topic, or invite users. In both cases, the procedure begins on the company details page. However, you see either an Add Users or Invite Users menu option. If you see an Invite Users option, refer to Invite users to companies for further instructions.

You can add two types of users:

Standard users—Users who can log in to the marketplace and receive emails from the marketplace.

Managed users—Users who are created without login access and without the ability to receive emails from the marketplace. This type of user is useful when the marketplace wants to create users that can be given access at a later date, or for marketplaces whose users will never need to log in.

To add users to a company

1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Dashboard > Home | Companies. The Companies page opens.

2. Click the name of the company you want to invite users to join. The selected company's details page opens.

3. Click Manage Company, then select ​Add Users. The Add User dialog appears.

4. Do one of the following:

   To add a standard user

   1. Enter the user's first and last name.
   2. Enter the user's email address
   3. Select a user role from the Role drop-down list.
   4. Under Password, select Set by under (invite). Users that you add with this method receive emails with account activation links, and you can only assign applications to them after they activate their accounts.
   5. (Optional) Select Add another user, then add more users.
   6. Click Add User. The user or users that you added receive email invitations that require them to activate their account.
   To add a managed user

   1. Enter the user's first and last name.
   2. Enter the user's email address.
   3. Under Password, select None (user cannot log in). This creates accounts for users that have no login access to the marketplace. You can purchase applications on their behalf and assign applications to them immediately after you click Add User. This feature is useful for users that access an application directly, not through the marketplace.
   4. (Optional) Select Add another user, then add more users.
   5. Click Add User. The user is added to the company.
   To add users by importing a bulk email CSV file

   1. Click bulk email csv file. The Upload list of users dialog opens.
   2. Click Download userlist.csv. A template CSV file is downloaded. The template provides the required data format. There are four columns:
      • Email address
      • Role—one of the following:

      • First name
      • Last name
      • Password type—one of the following:
        • SET_BY_USER—User has marketplace login access and receives an invitation email.
        • NONE—User does not have marketplace login access and does not receive an invitation email. You can only set this password type in combination with the USER role.
   3. In the userlist.csv file that you downloaded, enter the information for the users that you want to add. Users with the NONE password type do not have marketplace login access.
   4. In the Upload list of users dialog, click Choose File.
   5. Browse to the userlist.csv file, then click Upload. Users with login access receive invitations by email. Users without login access are added to the company. Users who receive an email invitation must click the Activate Account link in the email and complete the activation form to activate their account. Users can only access marketplace products after their account is activated.
