Product Uploader - New experience

❗ Important: The feature described in this topic is in Early Availability (EA) status. The Product Uploader - New Experience provides an improved, streamlined interface for managing product catalogs in bulk. For enabled marketplaces, this experience opens by default when you navigate to Product Uploader. It offers enhanced usability, better error handling, mobile and tablet support, and a more intuitive workflow for creating, updating, and managing products at scale.

📝 Note: The legacy Product Uploader interface is planned for retirement at the end of 2026.

  • Bulk Create, Update, and Download support localized product content for multi-locale catalogs
  • CSV and ZIP templates include localized field columns for supported locales and fields, using the same field coverage and locale rules as the catalog UI
  • Localization is supported for Product Basics, Product Benefits, Product Features, Product Feature Characteristics, Product Images, Product Media and Resources, Product Edition, Product Integration, and Entire Catalog
  • CSV column headers remain in En-US; En-US values are mandatory for product details; pricing attributes are not localized

  • Full Catalog Download ZIP exports include
    • master.csv - This file contains data related to Product basics, Editions, Edition pricing, and Pricing plans.
    • medias.csv - This file contains data related to Product Media like links for documents or video links.
    • features.csv - This file contains the data related to product features.
    • featureCharacteristics.csv - This file contains data related to product feature characteristics.
    • benefits.csv - This file contains the data related to product benefits.
    • markupPrices.csv - This file contains the data related to marketplace sale price and wholesale price. You can update these prices during catalog creation. Use the Markup Price Type field in this file to distinguish between Sale Price and Wholesale Price as follows:
      • CHANNEL - Indicates the Marketplace sale price
      • CHANNEL_RESELLER - Indicates the Wholesale price.
    • Product Custom Attributes CSV with product identifiers, attribute keys, and values for populated locales
    • The rest of the files are individual image files related to the various products.
  • Marketplace Settings download and update workflows support a Custom Integration filter to scope operations to products for a selected integration
  • Exported Marketplace Settings CSVs include a Custom Integration column; updates apply only within the filtered scope

  📝 Note: Bulk create or update of product custom attributes through the Full Catalog upload flow is not supported; use Update Product Branding > Product Custom Attributes instead

Prerequisites

• Feature enablement: Contact your AppDirect technical representative to enable the Product Uploader - New Experience for your marketplace.
• Permissions: You must have Marketplace Manager or Developer role permissions.

File formats and sizes supported

• CSV file structure
  • Encoding: UTF-8 encoding is required
  • Delimiter: Comma (,) as field separator
  • Headers: First row must contain column headers. Headers remain in En-US even when you supply localized content values
  • Localized values: Provide translated field values using the column and locale conventions documented in the downloaded templates
  • Quotes: Text fields containing commas should be quoted
  • Line endings: Use standard line breaks (LF or CRLF)
• File size limits
  • Maximum file size: 1 GB per file
  • Product limit: Up to 25,000 products per file
  • Asset impact: Files with images/assets may support fewer products due to size constraints

  📝 Note: Keep files under 1 GB total size, including all assets.

Migration path

• For enabled marketplaces, the new experience opens by default when you navigate to Products > CATALOG | Product uploader.
• During the transition period, you can switch back to the legacy Product Uploader at any time using the in-product toggle.
• Both experiences remain available during the transition period.
• Data created in either experience is compatible.
• No data migration is required when switching.
• Activity log data generated is exclusive to the experience used.

Access the new experience

Once enabled by your technical representative:

1. Log in to your AppDirect marketplace.
2. Navigate to Products > CATALOG | Product uploader.
3. The new Product Uploader page opens by default.

To switch to the legacy experience, click Switch to Previous Experience on the Product Uploader page. To return to the new experience, click Switch to New Experience.

Limitations

As a preview feature, the following limitations apply:

• Feature completeness: Some advanced features may not be available yet.
• Performance: Large operations may take longer than the final version.
• UI changes: Interface may change as features are added
• Documentation: Documentation will be updated as features are releases.
