Migrate companies
Marketplace Managers can migrate customers, companies, users, and orders to the marketplace with a migration tool. They do this to manage their existing and new customers in one location.
In certain situations (when setting up a new marketplace, for example) Marketplace Managers need to migrate companies, orders, and subscriptions to the marketplace.
Microsoft company migration consists of several steps. This topic focuses on company migrations, not user or subscription migration.
📝 Note: It is not possible to migrate Advisor, Open, or CSP subscriptions directly to the marketplace, nor is it possible to directly migrate CSP subscriptions sold by other resellers.
Requirements
- You must be authorized as a CSP 1-Tier reseller.
- You must be on Advisor, Open or CSP.
- You must use the "Microsoft multi-channel tool" to establish a reseller relationship.
To migrate customers from Microsoft reseller programs to the marketplace
📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.
- The CSP partner sends the customer an invitation to request a CSP relationship with them. For more information, see the Microsoft Support page.
- Sign in to the Office 365 Partner center. Select the app launcher icon and click Partner.
- In the Partner admin center, click Build your business.
- Under the Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) clients, locate Request CSP relationship and click Send Request. A sample email is displayed.
- Copy the sample email message and edit it to create your own customized invitation. Your customer receives your email and selects the URL within the email. They are directed to Office 365 and are asked to authorize the partnership.
- The customer can accept the relationship by clicking Authorize CSP if they are a Microsoft Office 365 global admin. After a customer accepts the CSP relationship, the company name is displayed in the marketplace. The synced company is not yet on the marketplace.
- Synchronize companies automatically or manually.
- Go to Manage > Marketplace >Settings Data Sync | Sync Settings. Click Company Sync.
- To synchronize a company automatically click Create companies automatically
- To synchronize a company manually go to Manage > Marketplace > Home | Pending Companies.
- Select a companyName checkbox and click Create Selected.
- To check the tenant information was updated for a user, log in as the Marketplace Manager. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Home | Companies and search for a company you migrated.
- Inform the Company Administrator that they can log into your marketplace. Do this in any of the following ways:
- The AppDirect platform does not send activation emails for users that were created using the migration tool. Enable registration reminders in Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Custom UI | Customer Notifications> Accounts. Once enabled, an activation email is automatically sent to migrated users after two days.
- Send an activation link. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Home > Users | Manage Invitations. Under Actions Select the user settings and click Resend.
- Send an email request directly to the Company Administrator and users asking them to reset their password using the following link
https://<_marketplace URL_\>forgotPassword
. The CSP partner can now sell new CSP subscriptions to the customer. When the Advisor, Open or CSP subscriptions expire, CSP subscriptions are automatically assigned on the Microsoft portal. The partner performs a manual reassignment of licenses from the old plan to the new plan.
📝 Note: A customer does not have to wait for their license to expire and can cancel old subscriptions before the expiry date. Contact Microsoft for additional cancellation details.
