Cancel Microsoft products

When Marketplace Managers link their marketplaces to Microsoft accounts they can do the following:

  • Purchase Microsoft products on their marketplaces on behalf of end users.
  • Add users to, and remove users from, the Microsoft products that they purchased for their end customers.

When a Marketplace Manager cancels a Microsoft product, the following events occur:

  • The marketplace unassigns all users associated with the Microsoft product on the marketplace and on the Microsoft 365 admin center, but does not delete the user records.
  • The marketplace suspends the Microsoft subscriptions.

Caution: Before you cancel an Azure product, you need to remove any resources that are associated with the subscription in the Microsoft Azure portal.

Marketplace Managers can reactivate Microsoft subscriptions if they purchase the same Microsoft products within the grace period determined by Microsoft. The canceled product is reactivated and the Marketplace Manager can manage the product as usual.

If the grace period has expired, the Marketplace Manager cannot reactivate the Microsoft subscription. Instead, they must repurchase the Microsoft product.

All of the product changes that occur after purchase, cancellation, and reactivation are synchronized with the Microsoft 365 admin center.
