Create opportunities

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

The Opportunities feature is enabled when New Lead or Purchase button appears in the upper-right corner of the page at Manage > Marketplace > Orders.

Important: Only AppDirect can enable the Opportunities feature. Contact your AppDirect technical representative to request it.

The following roles can create opportunities to purchase products on behalf of customers (complete assisted sales): Marketplace Managers, Sales Support Representatives (SSRs), Resellers Managers with the SSR role and Resellers.

Opportunities consist of a user, a company, and at least one product. Users select these to create opportunities.

You can also create an opportunity from an existing opportunity. For more information about cloning opportunities, see Clone opportunities.

To perform assisted sales that include domains, email products with domains, or bundles, you cannot use opportunities. Instead, see Buy domains and bundles on behalf of customers.

Prerequisites

For users to create opportunities, prospective customers must have user accounts which must be associated with company accounts.

To create an opportunity

  1. Go to one of the following locations:
    • Manage > Marketplace > Users
    • Manage > Marketplace > Users > User name
    • Manage > Marketplace > Companies
    • Manage > Marketplace > Companies > Company name
    • Manage > Marketplace > Orders
    • Manage > Marketplace > Opportunities
  2. Click New Lead or Purchase. The purchase setup page opens and displays two panes: a Customer pane on the left, and a Product pane on the right. Depending on marketplace configuration, the Continue to Checkout button for purchases that contain domains or bundles, might appear; if it does not appear you cannot complete this purchase or procedure. Depending on the page you were on when you clicked New Lead or Purchase, some information might already be selected:
    • If you clicked New Lead or Purchase from a user details page, the selected user and the user's company appear in the Customer pane. Skip the next two steps.
    • If you clicked New Lead or Purchase from a company details page, the company appears in the Customer pane, as well as a list of users who are members of the company. Skip the next step.
  3. In the User search field, search for all or part of a user or company name. The search results include users that either match the user name or who are members of the company for which you searched.
  4. Select a user from the search results. The user and associated company are added to the purchase setup.
  5. Search for a product that the customer wants to buy.
  6. Select a product from the search results. It appears in the upper-right pane.

💡 Tip: After you complete this procedure, the product that you select in this step appears by default on the opportunity details page with the default plan (edition). On the opportunity details page, if the product has more than one plan, you can edit the product to select a different plan, and you can add more products to the opportunity.

  1. Click Create Opportunity. The opportunity is saved and the opportunity details page opens.
