Create products in bulk

As a Marketplace Manager, you can bulk-create and upload products to the Staging Catalog of a marketplace using Product Uploader. Use the product template (CSV file) to add information about your products before uploading them to the marketplace. The information in this CSV file is used to build product data in the catalogs.

To create new products using the Product Uploader

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Products > CATALOG | Product Uploader.

2. Click Create Catalog.

3. From Select a section to update drop-down, select PRODUCT | Products.

4. Click Download Template to download the product template CSV file that you can use to add your product information.

   📝 Note: Click Download Help File to download a guide that contains instructions on how to use the template to create and update product information. It also covers the fields in the template, the correct formats to use, and which ones are mandatory.

5. In the downloaded template, enter your product data by adding a new row for each product.

6. After adding all the relevant details, upload your CSV file by either dragging and dropping the file in the provided space or click the link in the provided space and select the required file.

   

7. Click Create. Your file appears as a new line in the Activity Log. The Activity Log indicates the progress of the upload and whether the upload is successful. The following icons are displayed to indicate status:.

   • Green—Upload completed successfully.

   • Yellow—Upload is in progress.

   • Red—Upload was either completed with errors or was interrupted.

   📝 Note: The product file is not uploaded if the format of the file is incorrect. If there are incomplete columns or inaccurate information in the file, the file will still be processed, but with errors. The status in the Activity Log will indicate the same.

8. To view the files uploaded, go to the Activity Log and expand the required activity row. Click the download icon to download any of the following options:

   • Total Products Uploaded- This is the original file uploaded.
   • Products Successfully Uploaded - This file contains the information about the successfully processed products. It also contains the post processed information such as, product IDs that are generated when a product is successfully uploaded.
   • Products failed to be uploaded- This file contains the information about all the products uploaded along with the products that were not uploaded due to errors. You can fix the errors and re-upload the file.

9. Open the Staging Catalog (Manage > Marketplace > Products > CATALOG | Staging Catalog) to verify the product information created using Product Uploader.

Limitations

You can create products:

• Without mandatory fields in the Staging Catalog.
• With 70% of available fields. The remaining fields should be added manually using the user interface.
