Create and manage translation keys

You can enter and edit words or phrases that you want to ensure are translated correctly in the Translations table. For example, if you use jargon terms or non-words (for example, app or admin), you can specify the actual word to use for the translation for each supported language. If you define app as the key term, you can specify that it be translated into application or its language-specific equivalent.

note

Translation keys are used by most marketplaces. To explore an alternative approach for your marketplace, ask your AppDirect technical representative about the Customize translations feature.

The Translation table displays the default UI terms used in the standard headers and footer. You can locate all other words and terms used in the UI (and their associated property keys) in the Property key reference.

To define or edit a translation key

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

  1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Custom UI | Translations. The Translations page appears and displays the default and existing keys and their translation for each language that your marketplace supports. The default keys are used by the headers and footers on the marketplace storefront pages, and the header in the checkout flow.
  2. Click Add Key. A New.Key entry appears in the Key column of the last row of the table.
  3. Replace New.Key with the term or phrase for which you want to define the translation.
  4. Enter the translated term or phrase in each {language} column, then click Save. The key and the translation for each language are saved and can be inserted into the appropriate template (header or footer). The translated term from each language column is used on the corresponding localized marketplace.
  5. (Optional) Do one or both of the following:
    • To edit a key entry, click any cell in the table, edit the term, then click Save.
    • To remove a key entry, click Delete in any row (scroll right to display the button).
