Manage notifications v1
β Important The feature described in this topic is retired. V1 notifications will be decommissioned on February 25, 2022, after which v1 notifications will be removed. For a description of product phases, see Product lifecycle phases. If you have questions, contact your AppDirect technical representative for information.
π Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.
The Notifications page lists all of the marketplace notifications that are enabled on your marketplace. Notifications are sent to marketplace users to inform them that a certain marketplace event has occurred. For example, if an administrator invites a new user, the Invite New User template (listed in the Type column) is used to generate an email message that is sent to that user.
π Note: The information in this section describes v1 of AppDirect's notifications. For a description of advanced (v2) notifications, see Manage notifications v2.
The Notifications page is located at Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Custom UI | Notifications as shown in the following image.

Note the following in the Notifications images:
- The balloon icon in the Event column shows that SMS notifications are enabled for this marketplace (email messages are always enabled). The following actions must be performed to enable SMS:
- AppDirect must configure an SMS gateway. Contact your AppDirect account representative if you want to use SMS notifications for your marketplace.
- After AppDirect configures an SMS gateway, the Marketplace Manager enables SMS notifications for the marketplace by clicking the Enable SMS Notifications checkbox at Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Settings | Marketplace Functionality.
- Only two SMS notifications are currently enabled (Activate Account and Invite New User).
- The Product Purchased and Free Trial Started templates are available for SMS notifications, but they are not currently enabled. If you click either of these templates, then click SMS on the template, enter message text, and then click Save, the corresponding template is enabled and the SMS icon no longer appears in gray.
- All email templates shown except Product Purchased are enabled.
To view and edit email templates
- Go to Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Custom UI | Notifications.
- Select an email template from one of the tables on the Notifications page.
The selected email template appears (the Free Trial Expiration Warning template is shown in the following image).
- (Optional) Edit any number of the following elements:
- Click SMS to display the text message template, then enter or edit the content as appropriate.
- Ensure the template is enabled.
- Edit the subject line's text or variables. You can view the text substituted for the variables by sending yourself a test email generated by the template.
- Add or remove numbers from the Remind field. An email message is sent for each entry in this field. In the sample template shown, a notification email is sent four days before the expiration, then again each of the next three days.
- Format the message using the text format options at the top of the Content section.
- Edit or add text and variables to the Content field. This is the body of the email message.
- Click any unused variable to add it to the Content field.
- Click Save to save your edits, then Send Test Email to send an email message generated by the updated template. The test email is sent to the current user's registered email address.
