Manage notifications v2

The information in this section describes a new version (v2) of AppDirect's external notifications.

AppDirect must enable version 2 (v2) notifications for them to appear on your marketplace. Contact your AppDirect technical representative if you have questions.

đź“ť Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

tip

To determine if you have v2 notifications enabled on your marketplace, go to the Notifications listing page at Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Custom UI | Notifications. Click Filters, then select Advanced features. If v2 notifications are enabled on your marketplace, the table displays only advanced (v2) notifications and the v2 value is included in the Version for every notification listed.

V2 notifications are initiated by matching a marketplace event with a predefined email template that is sent to the appropriate recipient when the event related to the template occurs. For example, if a company administrator invites a new user to join the marketplace, the Invite New User notification template is used to generate an email message that is sent to the invitee.

Marketplace Managers can use v2 notifications to meet the following requirements:

  • Create a custom template—Override the Default email template with a custom template under specific conditions. For example, when a customer purchases a regularly priced product, send a confirmation email using template X, but when a customer purchases a discounted product, send a confirmation email using template Y.
  • Create a one-to-many relationship between an event and the email templates used for notifications—For example, when a subscription to product A is canceled, send a notification using template A. When a subscription to product B is canceled, send a notification using template B. When any other subscription is canceled, send a notification using the default template.
  • Configure the marketplace to send off-platform notifications—Partners can use off-platform notifications to integrate with their existing notification systems. These systems can implement their own rules and conditions for sending notifications and ensure consistency in the notifications that your customers and partners receive. They send notifications from your email system instead of being sent by the marketplace on your behalf.
  • Apply specific customizations—Enable marketplaces to define their own SMTP configurations or SendGrid Subuser accounts to apply customizations to email accounts without affecting others.

Additionally, you can use v2 notifications to:

  • View sent notifications.
  • Resend a notification.
  • Get template-level locale support.
