Microsoft perpetual software products

Marketplace Managers can add Microsoft perpetual software products with to the catalog, and sell these products to customers. These products can be purchased multiple times on a marketplace.

Before creating the product, Marketplace Managers can retrieve Microsoft offer information from the Microsoft price list and offer matrix on the Microsoft Partner Center.

Prerequisites for creating and selling all Microsoft products:

  • Create a CSP service account on the Microsoft Partner Center
  • Integrate your marketplace with the Microsoft Partner Center

When end users purchase Microsoft perpetual software products in the marketplace, the license keys are provisioned in the customer’s Microsoft tenant. A Microsoft Perpetual Software email notification with instructions on how to obtain the product key is sent from the AppDirect platform to the end user. The end user must coordinate with their Microsoft Administrator to get access to the product they purchased.

Microsoft perpetual software products have the following limitations:

  • While Microsoft has some cancellation capabilities, cancellation is not supported on the AppDirect platform
  • No renewal because they are a one time purchase
  • Upgrades are not allowed
  • Downgrades are not allowed
  • Assignments are not allowed
