Create segment folders

Marketplace Managers can target products to specific segments so that only users in companies within those segments can view and purchase those products.

To use segments, you must first create at least one segment folder, then associate at least one segment with the segment folder. For example, to target products to companies in specific countries, you can create a segment folder called Countries, then create segments for each country in which you sell your products—for example, the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and so on. After you create segments, you can create filters to determine which users are included in the segment, or add companies manually. Then, when you associate a product with a segment, only the companies within that segment can purchase it. However, depending on the visibility settings that you configure, users who are not logged in might see the product. For more information, see Edit segmented product visibility.

To create a segment folder

1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Products > Groups | Segments. The Segment Folder page opens. If you previously created segment folders, they are listed in a table.
2. Click Create Segment Folder. The Create Segment Folder page opens.
3. Enter a name for the new segment folder, then click Save. The Segment Folder page opens.
4. (Optional) To add a segment immediately, select one of the options available on the segment folder page:
   • Build with filters—To build a segment with filters that use fields, operators and values to determine which users are automatically included in the segment, select the Build With Filters options. With this segment type, users are updated dynamically, and you cannot manually add specific users or companies.
   • Build manually—To build a segment by adding companies manually, select the Build Manually option. To update this segment type, you must manually add or remove companies.
