Purchases

Purchases are customer transactions completed through checkout and opportunities. For example, a customer adds items to a checkout cart and buys them, or a sales agent adds items to an opportunity and buys them on behalf of a customer.

When credit limit is enabled for your marketplace, purchases can be blocked at the point of sale if the order would exceed the buyer company’s remaining credit, unless that company is exempt from credit limit. For more information, see Configure purchase restrictions and Credit limit.

Purchases represent initial purchase transactions. Recurring payments, usage payments, and subscription upgrades and changes, do not generate purchases.

Items in a purchase can be digital products that need to be provisioned (such as software licenses that need to be set up by the vendor), physical goods that need to be fulfilled (such as hardware that needs to be shipped to the customer), items that do not need to be provisioned or fulfilled, and any combination thereof.
