Import order and user datasets
Resellers can populate their AppReseller instance with order and user records obtained from other enterprise systems by importing externally-created, CSV-formatted order and user records into AppReseller. After the import, they can use AppReseller to manage these externally-created order records including companies, company entitlements, memberships, users, and custom attributes (if they are associated with the order). For example, if Resellers work with partner companies that manage orders and the associated users and companies in their existing CRM or order management system, they could have the company and user records extracted to a CSV file on a regular basis (for example, daily or weekly), then transferred to the Reseller who imports them as batch files (also known as datasets) to create and manage the orders using AppReseller.
To import a dataset,
- Go to Manage > Reseller > Settings > General | Bulk Operations. The Data Migration page appears. It lists any previously uploaded datasets created by you or members of your company.
- Click Create Dataset. The Dataset fields appear.
- Enter a name for the dataset in the Batch Name field, for example, orderMigration_April_20_18. This name appears in the table on the Data Migration page after the upload is complete.
- Click the Enable Provisioning checkbox if you want AppReseller to perform the actual provisioning of the products included in each order in this dataset. Provisioning creates a subscription and gives the associated user access to the product specified in the order.
- Click Choose File next to the Bulk Data field, navigate to the CSV file that you want to import, and then click Open. The file name and path appear in the Bulk Data field.
- Click Upload Dataset. When the upload is complete, the Data Migration page opens and displays a message stating that the batch was successfully created and sent for validation. The validation is performed automatically, and depending on size of the dataset, can take more than an hour.
Note the following on the Data Migration page after a migration is complete:- The newly imported file’s Application Status column displays the state as Activated, Activated with Errors, or Upload Failed.
- The gear icon list displays options to Edit Dataset and Delete Dataset.
- While a batch file is being validated, you cannot create another dataset.
- When the state is set to an Activated state, you can click Download Report in the Report column to download a copy of the import report.
