Role-based AppInsights access control

Marketplace Managers can now control whether AppInsights analytics is available to specific user roles. A new AppInsights access toggle has been added to the existing role settings page so Marketplace Managers can enable or disable AppInsights for Company Administrator, Reseller, and Reseller Manager users independently, without any other changes.

Previously, users in these roles could see the AppInsights entry point even when a marketplace did not want them to have analytics access. This release adds self-serve, per-role governance so each marketplace can decide which personas see analytics dashboards.

📝 Note: The AppInsights icon appears in the Marketplace top navigation only when the marketplace uses the new global navigation experience and the universal header with the latest theme. If global navigation is not enabled, or the marketplace still uses the universal header with an older theme, the icon may not be displayed. Users with an eligible role can still access AppInsights at /insights/app until those navigation updates are in place.

Where the new setting is added​

The AppInsights Access toggle is added to the Role Permissions page, within each supported role section. It appears alongside the existing role capability toggles for that role — not as a separate AppInsights settings page.

  1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Settings | Roles. The Role Permissions page opens.
  2. On the Role Permissions page, open the role section for the persona you want to configure:
    • Company Administrator
    • Reseller
    • Reseller Manager
  3. In each role section, click the new AppInsights Access toggle to allow or turn off AppInsights for users with that role.

Each role has its own toggle. Changing the setting for one role does not change AppInsights access for the other roles. Marketplace Managers can configure each toggle. The default state is On for Company Administrator, Reseller, and Reseller Manager on new and existing marketplaces.

📝 Note: AppInsights must be available on the marketplace. These toggles control visibility and access per role; they do not provision AppInsights itself.
