Support for Free Trial Extension

In this release, we are excited to introduce the Free Trial Extension feature, which gives end customers greater flexibility and more time to explore products or services before making a purchase decision.
📝 Note: The free trial extension does not apply to Microsoft free trials.
What’s new?
Customers can now request additional time on their free trials directly from their MyApps page or Applications page on the Account portal. After the request is submitted, Vendors (ISVs) or Marketplace Managers can review and approve it directly within their respective portals.
📝 Note: Vendor systems must support free trial extensions and respond to subscription change events with updated free trial details.
Configuration details
To enable this feature, Marketplace Managers must:
- Navigate to Manage > Billing and Distribution > Products > productName | Edit > Editions and Pricing | Editions > Payment Plans and select the checkbox Allow free trial extension.
- Navigate to Manage > Marketplace > Settings > Notifications > Free Trial Extension and customize the notification template to alert Vendors and/or Marketplace Managers when a request is submitted.
Workflow summary
- Customers request trial extensions from their portals.
- Vendors or Marketplace Managers review and approve requests, setting a new trial end date.
- An integration event is sent to the vendor system.
- After processing, the trial is officially extended in the marketplace with an updated billing start date.
Feature enablement
This feature is not enabled by default. Contact your AppDirect technical representative to request it.
Setting enablement
Select the Allow free trial extension checkbox on the Editions page.
