Finalize opportunities

The Opportunities feature is enabled when the following elements appear at the following locations:

  • For Reseller Managers: At Manage > Reseller > Opportunities, the Opportunities list displays Opportunity info, Status, Creation Date, and ID columns. If it displays different columns, the Opportunities feature that this documentation addresses is disabled (see Assisted Sales for more information).
  • For Reseller Managers with the Sales Support Representative (SSRs) role: At Manage > Reseller > Opportunities, the Opportunities list displays the Opportunities that they created, as well as the Opportunities that Resellers in their marketplace created. Reseller Managers with the Sales Support Representative (SSR) roles can create, manage, and finalize opportunities. See About the Reseller Manager and SSR role combination in Opportunities.
  • For Resellers: At Manage > Reseller > Home > Orders, a New Lead or Purchase button appears in the upper-right corner of the page. If a Make Purchase button appears, see Assisted sales for more information.

Important: Only AppDirect can enable the Opportunities feature. Contact your AppDirect technical representative to request it.

To complete assisted sales, users finalize opportunities.

Marketplace Managers and Reseller Managers with the proper permission can finalize opportunities in Open and Pending Review status.

Reseller Managers can only finalize opportunities if they are in Open and Pending Review status and Marketplace Managers give them permission. If Reseller Managers do not have the approval to finalize opportunities, they can submit the opportunities instead.

Resellers can only finalize opportunities if they are in Open status and Marketplace Managers give them permission.

When users finalize opportunities, the following changes occur:

  • The opportunity status changes to Processing and no users can edit the opportunity.
  • Validations are performed, if they succeed the opportunity status changes to Closed and a unique system-assigned purchase ID appears on the Opportunity details page. If the validations do not succeed the opportunity status rolls back to its previous status.
  • Orders are generated and appear at the following locations:
    • For Reseller Managers: Manage > Reseller > Partners > Reseller Orders
    • For Resellers: Manage > Reseller > Home > Orders
  • An invoice is generated and appears at the following locations:
    • For Reseller Managers: Manage > Reseller > Partners > Reseller Companies > Company name > Billing
    • For Resellers: Manage > Reseller > Home > Companies > Company name > Billing.
  • If the customer does not have saved billing information, the unpaid invoice is sent to the customer. If the customer has saved billing information, a payment is collected and it appears at the following locations:
    • For Reseller Managers: Manage > Reseller > Partners > Reseller Companies > Company name > Billing
    • For Resellers: Manage > Reseller > Home > Companies > Company name > Billing.

To finalize opportunities

  1. Go to one of the following locations, depending on your role:
    • Reseller Managers:
      • Manage > Reseller > Opportunities. All opportunities created by Resellers appear.
      • Manage > Reseller > Reseller Companies > Company name > Billing. All opportunities that were created for the selected company appear.
      • Manage > Reseller > Reseller Companies > Company name > Assisted Sales. All opportunities that were created by the selected company for its customers appear.
    • Resellers:
      • Manage > Reseller > Home > Opportunities. All opportunities that you created appear.
      • Manage > Reseller > Home > Companies > Company name > Billing. All opportunities that you created for the selected company appear.
  2. Do one of the following, depending on your role:
    • Reseller Managers: Select an opportunity that is in Open or Pending Review status.
    • Resellers: Select an opportunity that is in Open status.
  3. Click Finalize. The Finalize Opportunity dialog appears.
  4. Click Confirm.
