Manually create leads as a Developer

Developers can manually create leads to record interest that potential customers communicate off-platform.

To manually create a lead

  1. Go to Manage > Billing & Distribution > Leads. The Leads page opens.
  2. Click Add a Lead. The Add a Lead page opens.
  3. Enter the lead’s company contact information in the Company Details section. Custom fields that the Marketplace Manager creates may appear in this section.
  4. Enter the lead’s contact information in the User Details, section. The Custom fields that the Marketplace Manager creates may appear in this section.
  5. Select the product or products in which this lead has interest, in the Product Selection section.
  6. Click Save. The following occurs:
    • A message confirms the lead is created.
    • The lead is visible to you, the Developer, in the Leads table. It is not visible to the Marketplace Manager or any other user.
    • The lead details page opens and displays the following:
      • Pending Submission lead status.
      • The contact information that you entered for the potential customer and his or her company.
      • Manual in the Source field because you created the lead manually.
      • A Manage drop-down list with the following options:
        • Delete—Deletes the lead.
        • Submit to Partner Managers—Sends the lead to the Marketplace Manager who can assign it to an appropriate user who can contact the potential customer. For more information, see Submit leads to partner managers.
      • A Notes section to document information about the lead.
      • Edit buttons which you can click to edit the respective section. For more information, see Edit leads.
      • A History section that displays the edit history for the lead, including when the lead was last edited. You cannot edit these entries. The history section logs the following:
        • All status changes of a lead
        • Addition or removal of products associated with the lead
        • Company association created
        • Company association removed
        • Lead created either manually, from a product profile, or from a Reseller profile
        • Lead updated by a company or user
        • Lead assigned to a reseller company or a Sales Support Representative (SSR)
        • Lead converted
        • Lead disqualified
        • Lead conversion approval requested
        • Lead conversion approved
        • Lead linked to an order, quote, or product
        • Lead unlinked from an order, quote, or product
        • Lead marked as won, lost, or open
