To use AppWise, you must have an account on your marketplace and your Company Administrator must have assigned AppWise to you. After AppWise is assigned to you, it appears on your MyApps page and you can begin connecting applications.

After you connect applications, AppWise creates an index of the content in those applications, including documents, emails and other types of content. After indexing is complete, content is continuously refreshed and is available in your AppWise feed and through search. When you enter a search term, AppWise searches all of the applications that you connected and presents a list of all search results, sorted by application type. See AppWise feeds and Search application content using AppWise for detailed descriptions.

You can connect multiple accounts for the same service—for example, after you connect your primary Gmail account, you can connect additional Gmail accounts and AppWise indexes content from both accounts.

note

AppWise does not store documents. Feeds and search results are generated from the AppWise index of your content.

To connect your applications to AppWise

  1. Log in to your marketplace. Your MyApps page opens. The next step varies depending on whether or not it is your first time using AppWise.
    • First time using AppWise—Click the AppWise tile, or if it is not visible, find it by entering the term AppWise in the search field, then click the tile to open the application. The First, connect your apps page opens. It lists all of your current applications that you can connect to AppWise.
    • Subsequent logins—Log in to your marketplace, then click the home icon in the universal navigation bar. Your Home Feed page opens. It lists the recent activity in all of the applications your previously connected. To connect more applications, click Connect more apps in the left pane. The Connect Applications page opens, with a list of all the applications you can connect to AppWise.
  2. Locate an application that you want to connect to AppWise, then click Connect. A sign-in dialog opens. It requires you to log in to the application or, if you do not have an existing account, to create a new one. For example, to connect Dropbox to AppWise, enter your Dropbox account information.
  3. Complete the steps in the dialog. The information and steps required to connect applications vary depending on the application you are connecting, whether the application account is included on your MyApps page or is an additional account for the same service, and so on. Any combination of the following steps and options can be included in the steps to connect applications, depending on the application:
    • Enter email and password or sign in with Google
    • Enter the host's web address
    • Complete two-factor authentication
    • Authorize AppWise to access the application
    • Create a new account
    • Download the application
    • Create or get an API token, than paste it into the dialog
    • Select the account you want to connect to AppWise, if you have more than one account
  4. After you complete the steps, click Connect. A yellow circular icon next to each application that you connected indicates that AppWise is importing your data. A message notifies you that your applications are connected and includes a link to your feed. After your data import is complete, you receive an email, and your feed now includes data for the applications you added.

See AppWise feeds, Search application content using AppWise and Connect and share with teams for more information.
