Configure subscriptions

The Subscriptions section of the Billing functionality page lets you set some general defaults that apply for subscriptions. These defaults represent key elements that create the structure around your subscription model.

To configure subscriptions

đź“ť Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

  1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Settings > BILLING SETTINGS | Billing Functionality, then scroll to the Subscriptions section.

  2. Define a grace period (in days) before a past-due payment results in the suspension of each associated subscription. This setting does not apply to domain registrations.

  3. Define a domain grace period (in days) before a past-due payment results in the suspension of a domain registration.

â›” Caution: This is a high-risk setting. For information about what might happen if you change it, see High-risk settings.

  4. If you select the Subscription changes | Use edition rank checkbox, Developers can rank all editions of a product to determine which subscription changes are upgrades and which are downgrades. For more information, see Subscription upgrades and downgrades.

  5. If you select the One Click Free Trials checkbox, customers can access free trial editions by clicking the Try the Free Edition button in a product profile. When this option is cleared, users must go through the multi-step purchase flow to obtain a free trial edition.

  6. Select the "Agree to Terms & Conditions" Modal During One Click Purchases checkbox to prompt customers to agree to the product's terms and conditions for One Click Purchases. This requires that One Click Purchases be enabled, and that the Developer be provided a URL to the terms and conditions when configuring a product.

  7. Select the Free first partial period checkbox to configure your marketplace to not bill for the first, partial month of a subscription. For example, if your marketplace bills monthly on the first of the month, any subscription made from the second to last day of the month is free that month. The customer’s first billing period would begin on the first day of the month.

If the purchase includes a one-time fee, the fee is included on the first invoice, not at the time of purchase.

  8. Select or clear Edition Restrictions | Enable edition level subscription restrictions to display or hide restriction settings for Developers on the product edition configuration page at Manage > Billing and Distribution > Products > product name | Edit > Editions | edition name. For detailed explanations of the restrictions and how they work together, see Edition, unit, and contract restrictions.

      • Risk if changed—Cancellation behavior changes.
This setting enables Marketplace Managers, Resellers, Sales Support Representatives (SSRs), and customers to select a specific date for their subscription to be canceled. During the cancel subscription workflow, an updated Cancel Subscription dialog appears for users to specify when the customer wants the subscription to be canceled.
This setting must be enabled on a marketplace to allow NCE product subscription owners, who cancel their subscription less than seven days after their purchase date, to schedule a cancellation.
