Configure sorting rank

You can define a sorting rank that determines the order in which products appear on the Featured Applications and All Applications tabs of your marketplace's home page and in product search results. You can use sorting ranks to promote certain products by making them more visible to potential customers.

📝 Note: When the Apply sorting rank to search results toggle is on in Storefront Product Search Settings, it can affect storefront search results.

To configure sorting rank

📝 Note: This documentation page may refer to Manage > Marketplace in navigation steps. If the Manage option is not available in your navigation, click the grid icon on the top-left corner of your header and click Marketplace.

  1. Go to Manage > Marketplace > Products > CATALOG | Production Catalog.
    The Production Catalog opens.

  2. Click the gear icon > Edit Marketplace Settings for the required product. The Settings page for the selected product appears.

  3. Select one of the following options from the drop-down list in the Sorting Rank section on the General tab:

    • Very High
    • High
    • Medium
    • Low
    • Very Low
Products with a higher ranking appear closer to the top of the home page and in the Featured Apps slider. When the Apply sorting rank to search results toggle is on, higher-ranked products also tend to appear closer to the top among relevant storefront search results. If more than one product has the same sorting rank, those products are automatically sorted based on the following logic:
    • On the home page—Products appear in the same order as the configuration sequence. For example, Product A and Product B have the same sort rank. You configured Product A’s sorting rank, and then configured Product B’s sorting rank. Product A appears in the Featured Applications and All Applications pages first, then Product B follows.
    • In storefront search results (only when the Apply sorting rank to search results toggle is on in Storefront Product Search Settings)—Among products with the same sort rank, the product that most closely matches the search string entered by the customer appears first. For example, two products (Product A and Product B) have the same sort rank. You configured Product A’s sorting rank, and then configured Product B’s sorting rank. If the customer enters A in the search field, Product A appears first in the search results. If the customer enters Product in the search field, Product A appears first, then Product B follows. When the toggle is off, search does not use per-product sort rank for ordering. However, the sort ranking values remain stored on the product.
  4. Click Save. The product settings are updated.
