Setting up the checkout
Before you can conduct business on your marketplace and send customers to checkout, there are a number of prerequisites you must fulfill. Once those are in place, you can configure some aspects of the checkout experience.
Checkout is an essential aspect of marketplace commerce, so many of the prerequisites for it are put in place when your marketplace is first set up.
To prepare the checkout, you must do or have done the following:
- Your AppDirect representative must enable cart-based checkout for your marketplace. This is available by default for all new marketplaces. You must also enable cart-based checkout by enabling Checkout V2 and setting other checkout configuration settings.
- You must specify the payment methods to be accepted in the checkout billing pages.
- You must consult with your AppDirect representative to set up taxation for the jurisdiction in which you operate. The marketplace owner is responsible for ensuring that all due taxes are remitted to the appropriate authorities.
- You must define your billing strategy and payment requirements.
- If you wish to customize the appearance of your checkout pages, you must work on them in your marketplace theme, and publish the theme.
- If your marketplace offers physical goods, you must specify a fulfillment service, and configure shipping on the marketplace.
