Bypass mid-contract subscription change restrictions
Marketplace Managers and Developers can configure complementary settings to allow sales agents (Marketplace Managers, Sales Support Representatives (SSRs), and Resellers) to bypass mid-contract subscription change restrictions. When they do, a message appears to advise them that there are restrictions that they are bypassing, and changes are applied immediately instead of being saved and deferred until after the contract ends. Restrictions always apply to end users.
Mid-contract subscription change restrictions
Plans can be configured to restrict users from changing subscriptions mid-contract. When users make restricted changes, the changes are saved and deferred until after the contract ends.
To restrict mid-contract subscription changes, Developers can enable the following restriction settings when they configure plans:
- Unit type contract restrictions
- Block user from increasing units
- Block user from decreasing units
- Block user from decreasing units purchased with original contract
- Contract term restrictions
- Block edition upgrades for subscriptions with active contracts
- Block edition downgrades for subscriptions with active contracts
- Block switch to shorter contract
For information about the settings, see Edition, unit, and contract restrictions.
Bypass configuration overview
To allow users to bypass mid-contract subscription change restrictions, Marketplace Managers and Developers configure the following related settings:
- Plan setting: Developers must enable the Enable marketplace managers to set roles for bypassing contract restrictions setting for the plan (see Contracts).
When the setting is enabled for a plan, Marketplace Managers can bypass mid-contract subscription change restrictions. - Role permission settings: For Sales Support Representatives (SSRs) and Resellers to bypass restrictions for plans that allow it, Marketplace Managers must enable the respective Bypass contract restriction role permission. For more information on this permission, see Configure Sales Support role permissions and Configure Reseller role permissions.
