Partner to Partner transfer for Microsoft CSP subscriptions

Major Upgrade

Important: This feature is currently in Preview. It will only be enabled for marketplaces that are actively working with AppDirect on this capability. It is not being made available broadly. For more information, contact your AppDirect technical representative.

Marketplace Managers and Reseller Managers can now initiate, accept, reject, and cancel Microsoft Partner-to-Partner (P2P) subscription transfers directly in the marketplace. This native integration replaces manual workflows in Microsoft Partner Center and centralizes transfer management and visibility in a single hub.

Previously, managing P2P transfers required leaving the marketplace, working in Partner Center, and returning to verify status. Authorized users can now create inbound transfer requests, review outbound requests, select eligible subscriptions, and track transfer status without switching systems.

Where to access P2P transfers

Go to Manage > Marketplace | Admin Tasks > Microsoft > P2P Subscription Transfers.

The P2P Subscription Transfers hub provides a partner-wide view of inbound and outbound transfer activity, including summary cards for review and activity history.

Key highlights

  • Create inbound transfers — Start an inbound transfer request for a marketplace company that already exists and is linked to the Microsoft tenant. Enter source partner details and the customer notification email.
  • Review outbound transfers — Outbound requests awaiting action appear in Needs Review. Select eligible subscriptions from the customer's portfolio, then accept or reject the transfer.
  • Cancel inbound transfers — Pending inbound transfers created by your partner can be cancelled with confirmation.
  • Transfer dashboard and history — Track transfer status (Pending, In Progress, Complete, Partially Complete, Failed, Rejected, Canceled, and Expired) and view transfer details, including timeline and line items. History covers transfers from the last 90 days.
  • Subscription selection — For outbound transfers awaiting accept, select eligible subscriptions from the customer's portfolio. Partial selection is supported. Ineligible subscriptions display a clear reason.

📝 Note: A marketplace company must exist and be linked to the Microsoft tenant before an inbound P2P transfer request can be created. Only the Marketplace Manager and Reseller Manager role can access the P2P subscription transfer hub.

Limitations

  • Available only for Direct CSP and Distributor marketplaces with standalone Microsoft Partner Center credentials.
  • Indirect reseller CSP and reseller store / tier-2 child marketplace partners are not supported in this release.
  • Azure Plan transfers follow the Partner Center lifecycle only in this release. Automated marketplace import or cancellation for Azure Plan is not included.
