Enhancements to split billing

The split billing feature empowers our partners to manage complex billing scenarios efficiently. It allows them to invoice enterprise customers with a parent-child hierarchy based on factors like geographical locations, cost centers, or departments. This release introduces significant enhancements to improve usability and functionality.

In the previous version, split billing allowed partners to:

  • Create a company hierarchy
  • Allocate a subscription during the self-serve checkout flow (initial purchase)
  • Generate parent and child invoices

In this release, we are adding support for:

  • Assisted sales flow allocation - Ability to allocate a subscription during the assisted sales flow within Opportunities.
  • Update flow allocation - Ability to allocate a subscription during the update flow (currently supported only in update v1):
    • When updating a subscription, previous allocations will reset, allowing for reallocation based on the units purchased.
    • After the update, parent and child invoices will be generated to reflect the changes made.
  • Ad-hoc subscription allocation - Ability to allocate subscriptions ad-hoc (independently from the update operation):
    • This operation is particularly beneficial when a customer wants to update the allocation without modifying the subscription.
    • Ad-hoc allocations will not regenerate past invoices:
      • The new allocation will take effect during the next billing cycle (that is, on the next invoice after the ad-hoc allocation).
