Getting started

Welcome to the marketplace!

This section of the online help is intended to provide you with an overview of the tasks you need to perform in order to get your marketplace up and running.

📝 Note: The range of features available to you on your marketplace depends on the edition you have. Some of the items within these steps may therefore not apply for your marketplace.

Here are the basic steps you can follow:

While going through these steps, you can also explore the main body of our online help, which offers more detailed information about each of these topics, as well as many other features that the AppDirect platform offers.

Target audience

This section of the help is intended for a Marketplace Manager who is configuring a new marketplace.

A Marketplace Manager is a top-level user, and enjoys most of the privileges available on the marketplace. The Marketplace Manager is able to perform many tasks, including:

  • Create new users, companies, and products.
  • Configure marketplace settings.
  • Change the appearance of the storefront.
  • Add product definitions.
  • View and modify billing information.
  • Configure the privileges of other users.

Typographical conventions

📝 Note: If the AppDirect logo appears in the upper-left corner of the page, when Manage > Marketplace appears in this topic, click the grid icon > Switch to | Store, instead.

The procedures in this document use the following typographic path convention to help you navigate to the specific page where you make the settings:

  • Go to Manage > Marketplace > Settings > SETTINGS | General Settings.

All words that are bold are links, buttons, or icons that you must click to navigate to the target page for the given procedure. The words in the path that are not bold (Settings in the previous example) appear in the user interface (UI) but you do not click them. They are typically headings for the links grouped below them.

The following image shows the UI locations for the elements in the sample path. Note that step 2 (Marketplace) is not visible until you click 1 (Manage).
