Create reseller companies
Reseller Managers can create two types of reseller companies that can access and operate on their AppReseller instance:
- Reseller companies—Members of these companies are Resellers that sell products to user companies to which they are linked. By default Resellers are assigned the Reseller access type on the company's details page. When you create a reseller company, you invite its first user to join as the company’s administrator. When this user invites other users to join the reseller company, they are assigned the Reseller user role by default.
- Referral companies—Members of these companies are Referral users that create and manage sales leads that are assigned to Resellers. By default Referral users are assigned the Referral access type on the company's details page. When you create a referral company, you invite its first user to join as the company’s administrator. When this user invites other users to join the referral company, they are assigned the Referral user role by default.
To create a reseller company
- Go to Manage > Reseller > Partners > Partners | Reseller Companies. The Reseller Companies page opens.
- Click Create Reseller Company. The Create Reseller Company dialog appears.
- Create a new company and its first user account as follows:
- Enter the company name.
- (Optional) Select a business size.
- (Optional) Enter a contact phone number.
- (Optional) Enable or disable Allow Login. This setting is enabled by default.
- Company with login access—Creates a company whose first user has marketplace access and receives emails. Subsequent users can be added with, or without, login access and email notifications. The company is in a pending state until the first user activates their account.
- Company without login access—Creates a company in which users cannot log in and receive emails. The first and subsequent user accounts are enabled automatically, and they do not receive an account activation email. This feature enables you to create companies that have users for whom you can purchase products, but who can only access them directly through the product interface.
- (Optional) Enable or disable Allow User Creation and Invitations. This setting is enabled by default. After you disable it, users can't add or invite new users to the company.
- Select one of the following Company Access options:
- Reseller
- Referral
- Enter the first user's first name, last name, and email address. The company’s first user can be new to AppReseller, or can be a member of an existing company. This user becomes the new company's administrator, and can invite and manage the other users that join the company.
- Click Create New Company. The following events occur:
- The new company is created and appears in the table on the Reseller Companies page.
- The company is assigned either the Reseller Access or Referral Access permission (a Reseller Manager can assign Developer Access and Marketplace Access later if needed).
- If the first user is new to AppReseller, a new user account is created, and he or she receives an email request to activate the account.
- If the first user is an existing AppReseller user, he or she receives an email request to join the new company.
