Opportunities pricing
Opportunity pages display product prices in columns. The columns shown and the labels used depend on the billing relationship configured for the reseller-owned Opportunity:
- Direct billing—Opportunities display Unit Wholesale Price, Unit Selling Price, and Total Selling Price.
- Indirect billing—Opportunities display MSRP and Unit Wholesale Price. The Unit Selling Price column is hidden, and the total is labeled Total Wholesale Price.
All opportunities users can view prices.
Marketplace Managers (MMs), Reseller Managers (RMs), and Sales Support Representatives (SSRs) can set opportunity-specific wholesale prices on reseller-owned Opportunities on a per-product basis, provided the Set custom prices on opportunities and Vendor cost features are enabled. Reseller Managers and Resellers can edit unit selling prices—the prices that customers pay—if Marketplace Managers grant them permission. Edited prices only apply to the opportunity; they do not affect the product price for other opportunities or other customers.
When a product row uses an opportunity-specific wholesale price, a lightning icon (⚡) appears next to the value, and a tooltip on hover indicates that a custom wholesale price has been applied. MMs and SSRs can also view the vendor cost for each product; if the wholesale price is set below the vendor cost, a warning message is displayed to reduce the risk of underpricing.
ℹ️ Note: Vendor cost is visible to MMs and SSRs. Vendor cost is not currently visible to Reseller Managers.
Unit wholesale price
The Unit Wholesale Price column displays the price that the reseller pays for the products: the Reseller Wholesale Price for each unit of product, if one is set for the reseller company by Reseller Managers (see Manage the reseller catalog); if not, the marketplace Wholesale Price, if one is set by the Marketplace Manager; and, if not, the marketplace price which is set by the Developer or Marketplace Manager.
On reseller-owned Opportunities, MMs, RMs, and SSRs can override this value with an opportunity-specific wholesale price for each product. Custom wholesale prices apply only to the opportunity in which they are set; they do not affect other opportunities or customers. Rows with a custom wholesale price display a lightning icon (⚡) with an explanatory tooltip.
MSRP (indirect billing)
For reseller-owned Opportunities with an indirect billing relationship, the MSRP column displays the manufacturer's suggested retail price for each unit of product. The Unit Selling Price column is hidden in indirect billing, and resellers see MSRP and wholesale pricing in place of a customer-facing selling price.
Unit selling price
The unit selling price is the price that customers are charged for each unit of product. This column appears on opportunities that use a direct billing relationship; it is hidden for reseller-owned Opportunities with an indirect billing relationship.
The default unit selling price for opportunities that Resellers create is the Marketplace sale price.
The prices that appear on each opportunity are the currently configured product prices until users edit them. Custom prices apply to and appear on the opportunity regardless of other price changes that occur in the system. For example:
- January 1: A sales agent creates an opportunity when the product price is $10, and the price that appears on the opportunity is $10.
- January 2: The Developer changes the product price to $15.
- January 3: The agent opens the opportunity, and the price that appears is $15. The agent changes the price to $20.
- January 4: The Developer changes the product price to $18.
- January 5: The agent opens the opportunity, and the price that appears is $20.
Total selling price / Total wholesale price
For reseller-owned Opportunities with a direct billing relationship, the total is labeled Subtotal (or Total Selling Price) and is equal to quantity multiplied by unit selling price.
For reseller-owned Opportunities with an indirect billing relationship, the total is labeled Total Wholesale Price and is equal to quantity multiplied by unit wholesale price.
