Referral lead life cycle

This topic describes the life cycle of a referral lead—a lead created by a Referral user. It describes the different states assigned to the lead and the options available to the user responsible for it at that point of the sales cycle.

  1. Referral user creates a lead. Status is set to Pending Submission. The lead appears on the Leads page for the user who created it, but is not visible to any other user.
  2. When the status is Pending Submission, the Referral user has two options:
    • Delete the lead. The lead is deleted and removed from the Leads page.
    • Submit the lead to the Partner Manager. Status is set to Submitted. The lead appears on the Leads page for the user who created it, and is also visible to the Partner Manager on his or her view of the Leads page.
  3. When the status is Submitted, the Partner Manager has two options:
    • Disqualify the lead. Status is set to Disqualified. Lead is now inactive, but still visible to the Referral user and Partner Manager.
    • Assign the lead to a reseller company or all sales support representatives (SSRs). Status is set to Assigned. The lead appears on the Leads page for the Referral user, the Partner Manager, and the members of the reseller company or the SSRs to which it was assigned.
  4. When the status is Assigned, the Resellers have two options:
    • Disqualify the lead. Status is set to Disqualified. Lead is now inactive, but still visible to the Referral user, the Resellers, and the Partner Manager.
    • Convert the lead to a customer. Status is set to Converted. The lead appears on the Leads page for the Referral user, the Resellers, and the Partner Manager.
